the self portrait of the ghost at sea.

We all talk about being all we can and the lessons learned and the soul-longing to find more.
We talk about the silent sideliners with their sad eyes and gray faces.
We talk about their inability and their staystill dreariness.
We talk about how dirty they are and how incapable and insufficient and unpassionate and unmoving.
We shy away when they look at us, afraid passive satisfaction and a standing stop are contagious.
We compare and believe that we'll never be the people we think they are.

But maybe the sadness is contemplation,
and maybe the dreariness is a need for silence.
Maybe the standing stop will make a glorious revelation.
And maybe taking and giving chances will come to realizations and happiness some day.
